Chapter 677: I’m Here to Find Someone

“Ahem, I’m just saying, I just got here and you’re already glaring at me. So not cool, dude?” Daphne Vaughn tried her best not to look so intimidated.

Harrison Thomson let out a cold hmph. “Who asked you to come?”

“I did. Got a problem with that?”

After snapping back, Daphne quickly ducked behind Adeline Hensley, putting on a brave face and pulling exaggerated expressions at Harrison.

“Oh, you two,” Adeline smiled helplessly. “Why didn’t you tell us you were coming? We could’ve come earlier so you wouldn’t have to wait so long at the airport.”

“Ugh, I’ve been so swamped!” Daphne’s face fell. “I meant to tell you, but then I got busy and it totally slipped my mind. I was still dealing with stuff right up until I boarded the plane. It wasn’t until I landed that I realized I hadn’t told you guys yet.”

She patted her stomach. “I’m starving, Adeline. Let’s go eat! Is there any good place around here?”

“I already booked a restaurant on the way here. Let’s go.”

“Hehe, I knew you were the best, Adeline.”

Daphne cheerfully linked her arm through Adeline’s and started walking out, but Harrison immediately grabbed her by the collar, pulled her away, and then put his arm around Adeline’s shoulders.

“Walk by yourself.” He shot Daphne a glance.

Daphne was speechless.

She was a woman, not a man! She couldn’t even hold Adeline’s arm?

Harrison’s possessiveness was just too much!

But Adeline, not wanting Daphne to feel left out, proactively pushed Harrison away and took Daphne’s arm.

Daphne shot Harrison a triumphant look, only to receive a disdainful smirk in return.

At the restaurant, while waiting for their food, Harrison asked, “So, why are you really in Yewhaina?”

“I’m not telling you.” Daphne rolled her eyes.

“I’ll only tell Adeline.”

Even though she and Harrison had been friends for years, she somehow felt closer to Adeline now.

Besides, Harrison was a guy, and what she wanted to talk about seemed better suited for sharing with another woman.

Harrison frowned. “Don’t lead her astray.”

Daphne almost laughed in irritation. “Hey, you make me sound like some kind of terrible person!”

Harrison’s only reply was two syllables:

“Ha. Ha.”

The meaning was clear.

Under the table, Adeline gently nudged Harrison.

Harrison, listening to his girlfriend, shut up.

But after the meal, Daphne tried to whisk Adeline away to sleep with her at the hotel.

Harrison really felt like strangling Daphne at that moment.

Adeline smiled and said, “Why not come to our place? We have plenty of spare rooms, and you can sleep with me. We can have a good long chat.”

Daphne shook her head vigorously.

Seeing that Daphne seemed to have something important to discuss, Adeline had no choice but to agree to go to the hotel with her.

Harrison’s face darkened and he dropped them off at the hotel entrance.

Once inside the room, Daphne immediately collapsed onto the living-room sofa.

“I’m exhausted,” she complained to Adeline.

“I’ve been dealing with the old man’s business empire non-stop. Haven’t even had time to breathe. I don’t dare slack off either; I’m afraid if I let my guard down for a second, Callan Crawford will swoop in and take advantage.”

“This trip to Yewhaina, I barely managed to squeeze out the time. Sigh, thinking back, life was so much better when I was just a photographer!”

Adeline sat down beside her. “So, is this trip for business?”

Daphne was silent for a moment before answering, “No.”

“Hmm?” Adeline was puzzled.

“I’m here to find someone,” Daphne said. “I finally found out where he is. No matter how busy I am, I had to make time to come.”

She looked at Adeline. “Do you know why I insisted on staying at this hotel?”

“Because… I’ve confirmed it. He’s here right now.”

Adeline nodded in understanding.

She didn’t ask why Daphne wasn’t going to see him directly. If Daphne wasn’t going, she must have her reasons.

“Adeline, honestly, seeing you and Harrison so happy together, I’m really envious.” Daphne rubbed her forehead and laughed bitterly. “Me? I usually have a bunch of cute guys hanging around me, but not one of them is who I truly want.”

A tear slowly rolled down Daphne’s cheek.

“Yeah. I know.”

Adeline pulled out a tissue and handed it to her.

Daphne took it, wiped her face, and then stood up from the sofa.

“I’m going to find him now.”

She started toward the door, but then hesitated, feeling timid. She ended up pulling Adeline up and whispered, “Adeline, will you come with me? I’m so nervous alone.”

Adeline smiled helplessly. “Okay, I’ll go with you.”

She was also curious to see what the man Daphne liked was really like.

They took the elevator down to the lobby.

Adeline asked curiously, “Where is he?”

“I only know he’s definitely in this hotel. As for exactly where, I need to ask…”

Before Daphne could finish, she suddenly stopped short.

Her eyes were fixed on a spot ahead.

Sensing the change in Daphne’s expression, Adeline followed her gaze.

It was a young man, tall and handsome, dressed in a hotel staff uniform.

He was talking to the receptionist.

“It’s him.” Daphne’s lips trembled. “It really is him…”

She wanted to run over right now, throw herself into his arms, hug him, and tell him how much she’d missed him all these years.

Adeline was almost excited for Daphne. She was just about to tell her, “Go for it,” when suddenly, a blonde, blue-eyed waitress ran over and hugged the man around the waist from behind.
