One night stand with my president (chapter 676)

Chapter 676: Telling the Mendozas About This

It turned out that after Gracie Mendoza asked for her name, she had someone look into her family situation. Upon confirming that everything she said was true, she arranged for a sum of money to be transferred to her.

At the time, the maid was incredibly grateful. Through the person who had facilitated the transfer, she managed to get in touch with Gracie.

Gracie spoke gently to her on the phone. “Don’t take it to heart. Everyone encounters difficult times. Use that money for now, and once you’re earning in the future, you can pay me back. No rush.”

Gracie didn’t explicitly say she didn’t have to repay it, but this made the maid even more grateful. She understood that Gracie was trying to protect her dignity.

That money was enough to cover her sister’s medical treatment.

Not only that, after Gracie discussed this with Isaac Mendoza, Isaac also arranged a job for her father.

It was a very ordinary job, but it was much better than relying on odd jobs here and there.

This made the maid even more thankful.

After hearing this story from the past, the footman exclaimed, “Wow, I can’t believe Mr. and Mrs. Mendoza helped you out that much.”

“Yes, that’s why I say they are truly wonderful people.” The maid’s eyes welled up even now as she recalled it.

“Tsk, tsk. Look at Mrs. Mendoza, a wealthy lady, and then look at the one we work for here…”

The footman frowned deeply. “In her eyes, people like us are worthless, disposable. It’s just too much!”

The maid laughed bitterly. “Honestly, just looking at her now makes me sick. But I have no choice. I need to survive, so I have to keep working here.”

There was another reason she stayed: the chance to occasionally catch a glimpse of her benefactors.

Back before the Mendozas and the Livingstons had fallen out, Isaac and Gracie Mendoza would frequently visit the Livingston residence as guests.

She couldn’t do much more, but at least she could personally brew two cups of good coffee and serve them.

Now, with the falling out, and her own family’s situation having improved considerably, she had recently been considering resigning.

But then, she accidentally discovered that Mrs. Livingston had someone procure medication.

The more she thought about it, the more unsettled she felt.

“So, what are you going to do about this?” the footman asked.

The maid said, “I think I need to find a way to inform Mrs. Mendoza about this. Regardless of whether Mrs. Livingston is actually targeting the Mendozas or not, at least letting them know will allow them to be on their guard.”

“But if Mrs. Livingston finds out you told, she won’t let you off the hook!” the footman said nervously.

“It’s okay, as long as you don’t tell anyone else. Mrs. Livingston won’t find out.”

The footman immediately slapped his chest in a vow. “Don’t worry, I promise I won’t breathe a word to anyone!”

The two had always had a decent relationship, perhaps even a bit of a flirtation, so the maid had no reason to doubt him. After chatting, she turned and went back to her work.

She didn’t notice the flicker of cunning that crossed the footman’s eyes.

Adeline Hensley hadn’t expected Daphne Vaughn to suddenly show up in Yewhaina.

She hadn’t even told them she was coming. It wasn’t until her plane had already landed in Yewhaina that she called Adeline, loudly demanding that Adeline and Harrison Thomson treat her to a meal.

Luckily, they weren’t busy at the time, so they quickly rushed to the airport.

The moment Daphne saw Adeline, she pulled her into a big, tight hug.

She clung to Adeline, unwilling to let go, but when she looked up, her eyes met Harrison’s icy-cold stare.

Daphne shuddered in fright and immediately released Adeline.
