Chapter 684: It Was All His Fault
Colin’s body stiffened. With some difficulty, he turned his neck to look at the man standing beside Adeline.

He looked familiar. Where had Colin seen him before? Damn it, he couldn’t quite remember, but he was certain this man was no ordinary person. He could tell just from the aura he exuded!
Meeting that man’s gaze alone made Colin’s heart race with fear.
“What are you waiting for?” Harrison said coldly.
He was speaking to the bodyguards.
They immediately understood and dragged Colin away despite his struggle to resist.
At that moment, Colin didn’t even dare to put up a fight.
He could only watch helplessly as Adeline walked into the hotel and Harrison got into his car and drove off.
Soon after, someone came to warn him.
“Do not disturb Adeline again.”
Otherwise, his fate would be far worse than he could imagine.
Though Colin was unwilling to let it go, fear had taken root in his heart, making him too afraid to provoke Adeline any further.
Just then, his subordinate called to inform him that they had caught Jaden.
Colin gritted his teeth.
Jaden… It was all that bastard’s fault!

Daphne woke up before dawn.
She blinked in confusion for a moment before the events of last night came flooding back.
A familiar ache spread through her chest again.
But after a night’s rest, her emotions had mostly stabilized.
It was time to let go.
Truth be told, they had broken up years ago. There had been no contact since. It was only natural that he had a new girlfriend.
The real problem was that she had been clinging to a relationship that had ended without closure, unable to move on.
Daphne lay in bed for a while, waiting until she felt calm before finally getting up.
She turned her head and saw Adeline sleeping beside her.
Her eyelashes fluttered, touched by the sight.
She knew Adeline must have stayed to keep her company, worried about how she was doing.
She was grateful to have Adeline with her during this trip to Yewhaina.
Without her, she didn’t know how she would have gotten through it.
Not wanting to wake Adeline, Daphne quietly slipped out of bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower.
Once her mood had settled, she realized she was hungry.
She recalled that the hotel’s restaurant was open twenty-four hours.
As she was getting dressed, she heard Adeline’s sleepy voice.
“Where are you going?”
“Did I wake you?” Daphne said apologetically. “I’m hungry. I was just going to grab something to eat. You go back to sleep.”
“I’ll come with you.”
Adeline sat up in bed.
She hadn’t been sleeping deeply anyway, keeping one eye out for Daphne.
She had woken up when Daphne was in the shower but had dozed off again out of sheer exhaustion. Now that she heard Daphne was going out to eat, she was too worried to let her go alone. Even though she was still tired, she forced herself to sit up.
“Seriously, I’m fine. You don’t have to come with me. Look, you can barely keep your eyes open.”
Daphne quickly walked over to the bed and gently pushed Adeline back down.
“I’m not that tired. I’ll go with you—”
“You can’t even keep your eyes open, and you’re saying you’re not tired?” Daphne was both amused and moved. “I’m really fine. I’m just going to the hotel restaurant to get something to eat. I’ll come right back.”
She could have ordered room service, but she wanted to get some fresh air.
“But—”
“Do I look like I’m not okay? If I weren’t, I wouldn’t be thinking about food. Don’t worry, alright? If you insist on coming with me, I’m going to be upset.”
Daphne said this half-jokingly, then tucked Adeline back under the covers, quickly put on her jacket, and left.
Through the hallway window, she could see that it was still dark outside.
Daphne walked slowly toward the restaurant.
Once there, she ordered a simple plate of pasta with meat sauce and sat down to wait.
Nearby, two waitstaff were chatting.
“That whole mess last night… do you think this hotel can even stay open after this?”
“Who knows.”
“Sigh. It’s all the boss’s daughter’s fault. Why did she have to keep coming around the hotel? Look at the trouble she’s caused now, huh?”
“Honestly, the boss isn’t any better. Didn’t you hear? His daughter used to bully people all the time, and he backed her up every time. Just because he had some money. It’s ridiculous. Now that she’s messed with the Mendoza heiress, they finally know what fear is, right?”
The Mendoza heiress?
Daphne had only been half-listening to the gossip, but at those words, she perked up.
In Yewhaina, the Mendoza heiress was none other than Adeline.
What happened after she fell asleep last night?
“Exactly. And honestly, her boyfriend? Sure, he’s good-looking, but it’s not like he’s some irresistible prize. You’d think everyone wanted him, the way she acts. Every time she sees him talking to another woman, she loses it.”
“Do you remember that new waitress who started a while back?”
“Yeah, I remember. She was really pretty.”
“Her boyfriend smiled a couple of times while talking to that waitress about work, and the boss’s daughter saw it. She slapped that waitress so hard her face swelled up. The poor girl didn’t even fight back. And they were only talking about work! Afterward, when the boss found out, that waitress just disappeared. No one knows what happened to her.”
“And honestly, her boyfriend is just as bad. A total gigolo who can’t keep his eyes to himself. I saw him flirting with a female guest just a few days ago.”
“What happened last night was hilarious, though. He tried to hit on the Mendoza heiress, and she completely ignored him. And then the boss’s daughter had the nerve to accuse her of seducing him.”
“I heard the Mendoza heiress is suing them.”
“Good. That’s justice.”
At this point, Daphne had a general idea of what had happened, but she wanted to confirm the details. If someone had wronged Adeline, she was going to make things right.
She couldn’t help but ask, “Excuse me… did something happen at the hotel last night?”
The two waitstaff, who had been eagerly gossiping, perked up at her question and eagerly recounted the whole story.
“Pretty funny, right?” one of them said.
“Yeah, real funny,” Daphne said through gritted teeth. “Where are the boss’s daughter and her boyfriend?”
Both waitstaff froze.
“Why do you ask?”
“I’m going to beat them up for my friend.”
“Your friend… you mean the Mendoza heiress? Wait, you’re friends with the Mendoza heiress? Is that why she stayed here last night? To keep you company?”
Hearing this, Daphne was overcome with guilt.
If she hadn’t asked Adeline to come, Adeline never would have had to deal with such a disgusting situation.
“I’m so angry…”
“Don’t worry, miss. The Mendozas won’t let them get away with this.”
“Right. Honestly, Jaden is probably going to be the first to suffer. The boss will deal with him before the Mendozas even get involved.”
Daphne froze.
“What did you just say? Jaden?”
